Serves:
1-2 People
For the Dough:
- 1 Cup whole wheat flour 125gm
- 1 tsp oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2- 3 tbsp water for kneading or as required.
- For vegetable stuffing
- 1 tbsp oil
- 2 small sized spring onions ( finely chopped)
- 1 tsp finely chopped garlic 3 to 4 small sized garlic.
- 1 small cup chopped cabbage, half cup carrots chopped, beans and capsicum.
- 1 tsp black pepper powder.
- 1 tsp soya sauce
- Salt as required.
Ingredients + Measurements
- Take flour, salt, oil in a bowl and mix them well with a spoon.
- Add water in parts and knead to firm dough. Cover the dough and keep aside for 30 minutes.
- Finely chop all the vegetables. In a pan, heat oil. Add chopped garlic. Saute for 2-3 seconds on medium to low heat.
- Add onions saute for 10-15 seconds on medium to low heat.then add other vegetables.
- Saute vegetables well for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the salt, soya sauce and pepper.
- Continue to stir fry for 2-3 minutes. And switch off the flame.
Shaping Momos
- Divide the dough into two parts. Make 7 to 8 inches log from each part .. Cut the log into equal slices
- Make a ball of each slice and keep them covered with a moist napkin.
- Take each dough ball on a lightly dusted board, roll each ball into a thin circle of about 3-4 inches of diameter.
- Try to get the edges to be thin and centre to be thick.
- Place 2- 3 teaspoons of vegetable stuffing in the center.
- Start folding and formatting the pleats one by one . towards the end, join the pleats in the center..
- Prepare all momos this way and keep them covered under a moist napkin. Till you are ready to steam
Steaming Veg Momos
- Heat 1.5 to 2 cups water in steamer or in electric cooker or in pressure cooker
- Let the water come to a boil.
- In a greased steamer pan or in idli moulds, place the momos keeping some space between them so they dont touch each other.
- Steam them for 5-6 minutes.
- Time of the cooking varies from intensity of the flame and kind of pan and steamer you are using..
- Once done remove them and keep on serving plate or tray.
- Serve hot
