Ingredients + Measurements

  • 1 Small bowl whole black lentil
  • 2 tbsp rajma
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp desi ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds ( jeera)
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 Small cinnamon stick
  • 1 Small cup finely chopped onions
  • Half tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 Cup fresh tomato pulp
  • 2 tbsp Chopped coriander

Method Of Preparation

  • First clean wash and soak dal and rajma overnight.
  • Drain, add 2 cups of water and salt and pressure cook for 7 whistles or till the dals are overcooked
  • Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  • In a pan add ghee heat well add cumin seeds, green chillies, cinnamon and onions n saute till onions turn golden brown in colour.
  • Add the ginger garlic paste, chilli powder and tomato puree and cook over a medium flame till the mixture leaves oil.
  • Add the dal, salt and approx 3 tbsp water oil required and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve the dal makhani hot garnish with coriander leaves.
