Ingredients + Measurements
- 2 tbsp butter or oil
- 1 tbsp whole wheat flour
- 1 Cup whole milk
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 pinch of nutmeg powder.
- Salt as required.
- 1 cup penne pasta
- 4 cups water
- 1 tsp salt or add as required.
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried thyme
Method Of Preparation
- Heat a saucepan. Keep the heat to low and add butter
- When the butter melts and starts to bubble, then add 1 tbsp whole wheat flour.
- Using a whisk stir the flour quickly as soon as you add it.
- Keep on stirring so that no lumps are formed.
- The frequent stirring helps the flour to cook evenly.
- Saute the flour till and u get a nice cooked aroma of flour in a pale golden colour.
- Keep the heat lowest and then pour the cold or chilled milk and mix well
- The milk has to be chilled so that lumps are not formed.
- Do stir frequently while the milk warms and heats up
- On low heat simmer the sauce till it thickens.
- Boil 4 cups of water with 1 tsp salt in a pan
- Cook the pasta on low to medium flame and boil well for 10-12 mins.
- Strain the pasta, draining all the water.
- Add cooked pasta to white sauce
- Add rest of ingredients oregano, black pepper, basil and thyme can add saute veggies.
